Orinda Kitchen

A cramped kitchen was expanded by reclaiming an adjacent bathroom and utility room, new recessed LED and pendant lighting were added, ample storage in tall pantry-style cabinets with roll-out trays. A contrasting painted island with roomy seating takes center stage. The center island sits where dividing walls were before the remodel., and offers ample space for seating. It has a marble top while the perimeter cabinetry is outfitted with Quartz countertops. The work U-shaped kitchen is offering ample space for two cooks and stainless appliances.

The reclaimed adjacent bathroom and utility room now allow for a dedicated "command center" with desk and related storage, as well as accessory bar sink and bar area. The tall storage by the back door houses all dog-related items including kibble. A beverage refrigerator is incorporated in the island. The previous narrow entry into the kitchen was widened and trimmed to match the dining room wood wainscot. The enclosed kitchen is now more open to the rest of the home, the new French door adding views to the yard and at the spacious kitchen fits the lifestyle of the busy family with multiple young children. The recaptured powder room space allowed the refrigerator and cabinetry to be set back, enlarging the work U of this kitchen. A lazy- Susan corner cabinet utilizes wasted corner space and resulting countertop space is spacious.
