Fremont Kitchen

Small cramped kitchen now open to the eat-in area and family room beyond for greatroom feel. View from the entry and expanded raised ceiling in the kitchen proper all contribute to open airy feeling. Where the load-bearing wall was, seamless Oak flooring extends into the kitchen. Removal of the wall and large support beam allowed for an expanded ceiling tray in the kitchen with additional recessed LED lighting. The dining room side of the kitchen offers more glass-front cabinetry, an appliance garage and open bookcase with mail-sorting feature. All base cabinets outfitted with rool trays. All cabinetry is white with beadboard detail on the island carried to the seating area and banquette seating.

The added kitchen island doubled the countertop work space and offers added functions of a secondary sink and in-countertop composting insert. Other features include a tandem trash and recycling cabinet. The kitchen island features a seating area with support corbels and trash and recycling pull-out on this side. Under counter microwave drawer is loaded from above and alows easy access.

The client fell in love with the Golden Macaubas granite: we designed the kitchen to complement its striking characteristics. The perspective from the banquette area shows off the stainless steel appliances, and the combination of slab small drawers with Shaker larger drawers. With all the great new features in the kitchen, the client's favorite item remains the in-counter composting insert: the stainless top sits flush with the countertop when closed, but the entire stainless insert is easily removed for transfer or cleaning. Deep drawers are at the range end of the island for ample storage of pots and pans, and even a lid organizer insert. The kitchen went from a dark and cramped cluttered space to a fully functional and organized bright and cheery space.
